LMCS down 19 students

The annual meeting was held Tuesday, Oct. 19. School Business Official, Drake Abbey, reviewed the ending balances. In comparison to last year, all balances either maintained or slightly increased. The annual meeting was then adjourned.
The organizational meeting was called to order and Ryan Joynt was nominated to continue as board president and Kathy Christianson was nominated and elected as board vice president. Both positions will be held through November of 2019.
Items that were reported o,n included enrollment status, EMC dividend check and WCDA additional funds. Certified enrollment was reported to be down 19 students (594.71) from the last year’s count (614.57), which depending on state aid, will result in $128,000 in less money next year for the school district. EMC provided a dividend check ($1,800) for safe practices and limited claims. WCDA provided an additional $3,800 for student related costs.
Business items had several actions:
The first was the board resolution to consider to continue with the instructional support program that the district has had for the last five years.
The FFA was approved for their national convention.
The Winnebago and Worth County Conference/Compensation board members were elected, with Ryan Joynt for Winnebago seat, and Don Knudtson for Worth County seat.
A contract was approved for Forecast5 company to help with long term financial planning.
The request to the School Budget Review Committee (SBRC) was approved for, to add to our unspent authorized budget for open enrollment out and Limited English Proficiency costs.
Agreements were approved with UNI and Iowa State to allow field experience and practicum experiences for this year.
Several board policies were reviewed and approved in the 500, 600, and 700 series along with several items for fundraising.
Discussion was held over for the upcoming school board convention in November and the meeting was adjourned.
