Winter storm Wesley blew through the area last week, with rain, sleet, freezing rain and high winds, causing many downed power lines throughout northern Iowa (pictured below). Thousands of residents in Winnebago, Worth and surrounding counties were without power from Thursday through Sunday. Warming centers were set up in area towns that still had power. Linemen from Butler and Franklin Counties arrived Friday to assist Heartland Power Cooperative in restoring power to their customers.
