Jubilee escapes storm
While beautiful weather was the rule of the weekend, the exception came on Sunday overnight, as heavy winds and lightning left their mark on Lake Mills and the surrounding area, with numerous trees losing limbs and some property damage. This marks the second consecutive year that July Jubilee has had a near miss in regards to weather, as last year an early morning storm one-day before the weekend, caused significant property damage of trees and houses, and the high school athletic complex, tore through the south part of town.

Prior to last year, July Jubilee weekend was cursed with torrential rains, that caused a cancellation of the Saturday parade one year, and the community picnic had to be moved inside two consecutive years.
