Heartland Power sponsors 2019 Rural Electric Youth Tour Contest
Heartland Power Cooperative of Thompson/St. Ansgar is pleased to announce its participation in the 2019 Iowa Rural Electric Youth Tour. The Youth Tour is an opportunity for young people to learn firsthand about our nation’s government and rural electrification through an all-expense paid week in Washington, D.C. The participants will have an action-packed week of touring historic sites, meeting congressional leaders, spending a day on Capitol Hill, exploring the Smithsonian museums, taking a cruise on the Potomac River and making new friends from Iowa and across the nation.
The Iowa Association of Electric Cooperatives coordinates the Iowa Youth Tour. The IAEC is the Des Moines-based service organization for Iowa’s rural electric cooperatives. The dates for this year’s Youth Tour are June 14-20, 2019. Heartland Power will be sponsoring two students this year.
All students of Heartland Power members who are presently sophomores or juniors in high school are eligible to participate.
