Graphic adds Rogness to staff for the summer

The Graphic is pleased to announce the summer addition of LMHS grad, Carter Rogness to out staff. Rogness will help cover sports, county fairs and a variety of other beat while working in the office.
What follows is an introduction (or reintroduction) to Rogness in his own words.
I haven’t always done this, newspaper writing is new for me. I graduated from LMCS the summer of ‘14, and I went to study music in the Twin Cities in the fall at the University of Northwestern - St. Paul. After a few weeks, I had the specifics down and started working hard at my operatic studies. I preformed classical solos from operas and arias, and moved voice parts from a high baritone to a low tenor. It was a great year of work, yet it didn’t feel like something I could do for long.
I decided the fall of ‘15 that I needed a change. I switched majors from Music to Communications, and started working for our student radio station. It was in those radio studios that I really started to enjoy myself. I was moved into a leadership position, becoming the executive promotions and marketing manager for our station. My fondest memory involved our 98.5 hours of Christmas special, where we ran a live show for over four straight days by taking shifts. Nothing says midterms like juggling 98.5 hours of radio with research papers and essay tests.
Regardless of the crazy that comes with student radio, I found my passion. Using my voice, spoken or written, to create smiles and encourage others. Since then I’ve begun working hard at Public Relations and Mass Media writing, creating portfolios and searching for internships. Family is important to me (along with free housing), so I decided to come home for one more summer. The Graphic just seemed the the most logical choice to me.
My name is Carter Rogness, and I’m excited to serve my local area as an intern at the Lake Mills Graphic. If you see me poking around with a camera and notepad, be sure to smile. You might show up in the paper.
