Election night owned by incumbents, write-ins
Communities across north Iowa went to the polls last Tuesday, and returned many incumbents to office, while also looking at newcomers to the political scene, as official ballots in many towns were not filled by registered candidates.
In Lake Mills, voters returned Candy Hanna to the Mayoral office, while Joseph Jamtgaard was elected to one of the two vacant council seats. With no other formal candidate, Katie Peterson, was elected for the other four-year council term as a write-in.
Other results can be seen at left, with Worth County results indicating the winners of each race, while the Winnebago results indicate ballot results, but not the names of any write-in winners.
More information can be found at the Lake Mills Graphic Facebook page.
All results are unofficial until canvassed by each county board of supervisors, which will likely happen this week. Terms for newly elected Mayors and council members will begin in January 2018.
