Discovering nature day camp scheduled

Summer is a great time to introduce young children to the wonders of nature and the Winnebago County Conservation Board wants to help you do just that! On Friday, July 8th, they will be holding a Discovering Nature Day Camp for kids aged 4-6 years old. The camp will be held from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the Thorpe Park shelter house.

During the camp, kids (and their adults) will explore the lake, catch insects, make animal tracks, go on a scavenger hunt, and make s’mores, among other things. Activities will also be available for all participants to take home with them. Each child needs to be accompanied by an adult who will help them as they discover the wonders of nature. Participants will need to bring along a picnic lunch, although drinks will be provided, as will all other supplies. The cost for the camp will be $5 for the general public and free for Friends of Winnebago County Conservation Foundation members.

The WCCB encourages parents and grandparents to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to help a future generation learn about the world around them! Preregistration is required for the Discovering Nature Day Camp and people can register for the camp (or get more information) by contacting WCCB Naturalist Lisa Ralls at 641-565-3390 or at lralls@winnebagoccb.com.
