City/school election to be held Tuesday, Nov. 5

The first combined city/school election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 2. Polls will be open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. See last week’s issue of the Lake Mills Graphic for voting locations.
Candy Hanna is seeking a third term as mayor. She has served as mayor since 2016 and also was on the city council from 2006-2015, serving two-and-a-half terms.
Scott Flugum has been on the city council since 2016 and is seeking a second term.
Tony Sorenson has been a council member since 2006 and is running for a fourth term.
Bob Storby previously served one term on the city council from 2004-2007, and has decided to run for the seat vacated by Bill Clark.
The City of Scarville had no candidates file nomination papers.
For the City of Leland, Russel Leitz is running for mayor, and Kenneth Steil and Susan Krein are running for council, which leaves a third seat empty.
The City of Thompson has two candidates running for mayor—Dan Swearingen and Daniel Newton. There are four candidates running for three council seats in Thompson—Stacy Willert, Todd Hughes, Cara Chapman and Troy Fleener.
Mark Thoma is seeking re-election as mayor of the City of Joice. There are two candidates for three seats on the Joice city council—Ron Miller and Deb Potter.

 

Ryan Joynt was initially appointed to the Lake Mills School Board in June of 2006, to fill a vacancy, and is seeking re-election.
Kathy Christianson has served on the school board since September of 2011 and is running for another term.
Teresa Fritz was appointed to the school board in February of 2015 to fill a vacancy, and is running for another term.
Jolene Piper was appointed to the school board in February of 2015 to fill a vacancy, and is also running for another term.
