City election one short
With the two-year mayoral seat up for re-election, as well as two four-year council seats, Lake Mills has only two of the offices officially covered on the ballot, as Candy Hanna filed for re-election as mayor, while Joseph Jamtgaard filed to fill one of the council seats. As the formal filing date has long passed, a write-in candidate could capture the other council position, however, we have not heard of any formal campaign underway at the present time.
To claim the seat, any candidate that would win on a write-in basis, would have to file an affidavidt following the election, stating that they will accept the office. Absent that, it will be up to the elected council to determine whether they wish to call for a special election to fill the seat, or appoint an individual until the next regularly scheduled election.
