The
IHSADA is proud to award the 2019 IHSADA District Student Scholarship to Cael Boehmer, Lake Mills.
One female and one male winner were selected from each of the five districts (areas) of the state of Iowa by the IHSADA. Cael is the Northeast Iowa District Winner.  It is a 21-county area that includes all the Cedar Falls, Waterloo and Cedar Rapids School Districts.
Cael will receive a $500 scholarship and the final pool of five males will be evaluated for a $1,000 scholarship in February.
Students had to complete a rigorous application process which included multiple essays in response to questions about their involvement and the role co-curricular activities has played in their lives.
Students are evaluated on school involvement, academic achievement, and community involvement as well as the essays. Cael has recieved all-conference and all-district honors in four sports. He has also been named all-state or been a state placewinner in three sports while in high school all while earning 14 varsity letters to this point, and is a member of the Lake Mills Choir, National Honor Society and FCA.
“This is the first male winner Lake Mills has had in my tenure as AD. I have been lucky enough to see two female winners. Carlie (Christianson) Fritz and Micah Peters both won student awards their senior year.  It is a great honor for Lake Mills and once again, shows people statewide how great of a school and community, we have here,” commented LMHS Athletic Director, Jim Boehmer.
Cael’s post-secondary plans are yet undecided. He plans to sign with an Iowa College to play baseball and study engineering.
