2018 All-State OPUS Choir
Four students from Lake Mills Community School were selected from among 3,000 auditions for the 2018 Iowa All-State Opus Choirs. Students in grades five through nine audition from across the state each year for limited spots in the state’s top vocal ensembles for this age category. Students selected were: eightth graders, Eimmy Candelaria (daughter of Carmen and Carlos Candelaria) and Madison Benesch (daughter of Rachel and Jeff Benesch) and sixth graders, Karelys Perez Rentas (daughter of Elioscar and Barbara Perez Rentas) and Hannah Sterrenberg (daughter of Karen and Brian Sterrenberg). The students are under the direction of Linda Saxton, Vocal Music Director at LMCS.
The Opus festival will be held Nov. 15, the first day of the All-State Festival held each year on the Iowa State Campus, Ames. Students, directors, parents, and fellow music lovers converge on the campus each year during this festival to hear the state’s top musicians.
