NCIGS meeting, Feb. 9
The North Central Iowa Genealogical Society meeting will be held Saturday, Feb. 9, beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the lower level meeting room of the Clear Lake Public Library, 200 N. 4th St., Clear Lake. This meeting is free and open to the public.
Rod Hungerford will discuss how local Iowa women of the late 19th and early 20th centuries changed themselves and the world around them. They gained financial, legal and personal independence. These changes, usually due to changing individual circumstances, required them to move out of the home to become landowners, business women, entrepreneurs, etc. Women began to take charge of their own destinies. Does that sound familiar in today’s world? Learn how they did it—way back then.
