Thursday, May 30, Daryl Sherman, (Rice Lake) was cutting up a hollow tree that had fallen in a strong wind onto their property. The tree was dead, and must have been a good place for a squirrel to build a nest and hide a stash of golf balls, many of which were gnawed to expose the rubber core. Guess this critter had a taste for variety . . . four Top Flite, two Titlelist, one Pinnacle, one Nike, 1one Callaway, and a MaxFli Noodle. Sherman repositioned the stump so he (or she) could begin another stash. The original nest was located about eight feet up from the base.
