Marching Band brings home awards from Band Festival
The Lake Mills High School Marching Band participated in the North Iowa Band Festival, Saturday, May 25. The band performed music from the Broadway show musical “Wicked.” Drum majors, Libby Heagel and Brianna Renneker, portrayed the two witches (Glinda and Elphaba), the color guard ladies were dressed as the flying monkeys, and the rest of the band wore a grey uniform shirt with a simple red heart to signify the Tin Man. The band earned their 15th consecutive First Place finish in Class 2A, and brought home the Meredith Wilson Grand Champion Award for the fifth year in a row. The band had the highest scores in all categories (Marching, Music, and General Effect). The LMMB staff includes Kehan Knapp (visual designer), Mindy Sletten (color guard coach), Sarah Thursby (color guard choreographer), and Nate Sletten (band director).
