LMHS Marching Band earns first place at Algona
The Lake Mills High School Marching Band participated in the Algona Band Festival Field Show, Saturday, Sept. 30. The band performed their show entitled “The Time of Our Lives” which includes Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive,” Imagine Dragon’s “I Bet My Life,” Coldplay’s “Clocks,” and “Viva La Vida.” The band is under the direction of Nate Sletten (Band Director), Mindy Sletten (Flag and Rifle Coach), Kehan Knapp (Visual Design), and Sarah Thursby (Choreographer). The 2017 Drum Majors are Libby Heagel (junior) and Brianna Renneker (freshman). The band’s outstanding performance earned them a first place finish in Class 2A. The color guard was also awarded Best Color Guard for the entire field show competition. You can see the band perform again at the home football game Friday, Oct. 6; the Iowa High School Music Association’s State Marching Contest in Fort Dodge, Saturday, Oct. 7, at 11:25 a.m.; and at the Indoor Show held in the auditorium Monday, Oct. 16.
